Ring doorbell transformer box12/14/2023 it may require moving some existing fittings to new positions to facilitate this. The transformer is double width and you will preferably need to put this at the end of the consumer unit positions. MAINS OFF, To do this job in the consumer unit, you need a qualified person (more cost). If you are surface wiring cable to allow some spare cable as mentioned before. Make sure the hole through the cavity wall (if appropriate) is slightly over sized so that you can loop some spare wire to ease and allow the ring to be detached for maintenance, if required. If you have a Ring 2, the L & N connections can be wired either way on to the two screws at the rear. If you need to be told to switch off the power to the Consumer Unit MCBs or RCBOs you shouldn't even be going anywhere near the panel. To be complaint in a UK consumer unit the bottom L & N terminals at least need to be larger and wider apart to take the standard Live Busbar. You must not leave this connected when not in a housing. It's designed for the American market or if you purchased the separate transformer housing. I have rated due to UK non standard design, also it has no CE safety ratings on teh packaging or the actual unit, so I'm unclear how this is being marketed in the UK by Amazon as British Standards tested & safe. Just received, good packing but if you want to return it, the orignal packing will be damaged as you have to cut the package open. I need another one for my Ring alarm bell box. Pity it's been unavailable for some time now. It's not difficult, but it needs to be wired correctly. But most importantly, it just needs to be installed safely. To be fair, that's why it should be fitted by either someone qualified, or someone who knows what they are doing. I suspect that it would be better for someone who isn't competent with electrical wiring to fit it in a separate DIN mcb housing. Not meaning to criticise, but I think it is more useful to explain how to safely fit it, rather than complain about what it isn't. To be fitted in a consumer unit, you would mount it at the end of the DIN rail with a shortened busbar and provide a feed using independant wires via the mcb previously mentioned. This is something that review fails to inform the uninformed. This power supply needs to be fed from a circuit breaker, otherwise it has no protection in the event of a fault! (No different from the 1st gen in that respect!). The busbar is designed for circuit breakers. There are reviews that criticise it for not being compatible with the standard consumer unit busbar. Being the same size (width) without the carrier as a mcb, it gives you room to add an mcb too. transformer which is the same size (width) as the carrier. This allows it to be swapped from a 1st gen ac/a.c. It comes in a double size carrier, from which it is easily removed from. (Preferably 1a or 2a) or via a fused supply. This is an ac/dc 'power supply' and although designed to mount on a DIN rail, it should be fed via a mcb. Much better than the older 1st gen ac/ac transformer. This Ring power supply 'does what it says on the can'.
